Towing Without Secrets
Motorboater’s Guide – Towing License
Did you know that in order to tow a water skier, wakeboarder, or other floating objects (“tube” or so-called “banana”), you must hold additional qualifications in the form of a license? How to obtain it—you will learn from this article. Such a document can be obtained by passing the appropriate exam. In accordance with the applicable regulations of the Regulation of the Minister of Sport and Tourism of April 9, 2013, on practicing water tourism, the conditions for taking the license exam are being at least 18 years of age and holding at least a Motorboat Helmsman license. Importantly, in order to be admitted to the license exam, you must present your motorboating qualifications to the examination board or, in a special case, provide a certificate confirming possession of motorboating qualifications issued by PZMWiNW in accordance with the procedure published HERE. Unfortunately, merely passing the motorboat license exam, without holding the issued document or certificate, is not sufficient in this case. A separate qualification that can also be obtained is a license for towing aircraft, such as parachutes, hang gliders, or paragliders. The requirements for these qualifications are identical to those for the license to tow a water skier. As with boating licenses, training courses for motorboating licenses are not mandatory; however, we strongly encourage you, when deciding to obtain towing qualifications, to also complete appropriate training. Not only to be properly prepared for the exam, but above all for safety reasons. We invite you to attend training at one of our centers. After obtaining a positive result in the license exam, you must generate an application via the website www.motorowodniacy.org, then print it, sign it, and send it to the Union’s office (ul. Nowogrodzka 40, 00-691 Warsaw) together with a photo, a certificate of passing the exam, and a photocopy of your motorboat license. The detailed procedure and application generator can be found on our website www.motorowodniacy.org in the “licenses” section.
